Hey guys, don't forget how important it is to get yourself tested for a colonoscopy checkup. If you are 45+ years, you should get tested. Once you see your doctor, he will set up an appointment for when you must get tested. You might be wondering what exactly is colonoscopy? Colonoscopy is a procedure in which a doctor uses a colonoscope or scope, to look inside your rectum and colon. This procedure can show, polyps, swollen tissues, hemorrhoids, and cancer results. A polyp is a growth in the lining of the colon. They are fleshy tumors, with a shape like mushrooms. However, some are very flat and may be difficult to find during colonoscopy. Many polyps remain benign, but your physician will prefer to remove them to be safe. Most polyps go through stages as they grow, leading to cancer. Your doctor will give you a list of instructions about what you must do before your test. On the list he will tell you to drink Gatorade and MiraLAX. He will give you instruction on when and how to drink them. You must fast for few days. When I did my colonoscopy, I fasted and drank the Gatorade and MiraLAX, to discover that I lost weight. This was a great result for me, because I've been trying to lose weight in my stomach, and this helped me a lot.
